I'm a Liar
by Perry inso, i'm downtown quite early the other morning while still dark and i see a man holding an awake.
so, i pull over and wave him over.
after a few words of cordiality, i ask him why jehovah's witnesses teach that jesus returned invisibly in 1914 when jesus himself said this:in matthew 24:.

Is practicing Capoeira wrong/bad/discouraged by Jehovah's Witnesses?
by aikichristian inmy girlfriend used to be an avid capoeira practicioner for over year.
she has reaped many benefits from it: increased physical fitness, flexibility, some self-defense skills, and stress-relief.
she enjoyed it.. unfortunately, an article came out in the spanish version of the "watchtower" ("atalaya" in spanish) essentially saying that capoeira should not be practiced because it has some spirituality stuff in it that was wrong.

Christian balance requires understanding the Scriptural principles involved, and acting accordingly. It's more challenging to achieve than it may sound. The factors involved do change over time as the symbols and actions change meaning within the cultures over time (both the culture of the many, and the culture of Jehovah's Witnesses).

Unbled meat.
by DJK inwhat is the (or your) definition of unbled meat as described in 1 samuel 14:32-35 where saul fed his army unbled meat.
i would assume that his army did not travel with a herd of sheep and the meat they ate would be from the wild.. i am a hunter and when i harvest a deer, i do not hang it and cut the throat.
i have already dressed (disemboweled) the deer and that includes removing the heart from the inside which allows a total bloodletting.. there are jdubs who hunt and it is quite obvious to game officials who they are because they will check in deer with the throat cut.

Principles trump laws. And this thread is about "unbled meat". Let's stick to that.

LESSONS FROM HISTORY
by Doug Mason inlessons from history .
i have a few reasons for providing the information that follows: .
* a very recent posting mentioned eschatologists of the 19th century (1800s) who provided ctr with his ideas on the interpretation of last-day prophecies.

Check two things, Fred: (1) the definition of infallible, and (2) the occurrences of "without fail" in the NWT. Then apologize.
Using the Comprehensive Concordance (which references the NWT), I do not see a subhead for "infallible" or any entry for "without fail" (under the subhead of "without"). Perhaps you can enlighten us all with your undeserved kindness, knowledge, and love. Thus, we may all draw closer in unity with Jehovah, Our Creator and Supreme Head, and benefit correctly from LESSONS IN HISTORY.

Is It Impossible To Reach A Devout JW ???
by minimus ini wonder.
a very typcal witness may see the obvious negatives that jws know they have.
they might acknowledge that there's often a lack of love, that the elders can be demanding, that "new light" can change long cherished beliefs in an instant.......but still they cling on and resist any sort of intellectual discussion as to why the witnesses are off soooooo many times.....what gives??

Fred,
If you're going to say that the NWBTC (New World Bible Translation Committee) has changed or is changing the Bible, then you'd have to say that other prophets in the Inspired Scriptures have done the same, including Jesus himself. All have applied Scriptures in ways that weren't obvious to many others (whether to those in their own day or since).
There is a distinction that you seem unwilling to admit: Jesus and the prophets claimed to be speaking directly for God. They also repeatedly claim to be infallible in their prophecies. The Governing Body makes no such claim—any such claim on their part would be laughable.
By what measure do you dare to compare them to Jesus or any of the 1st Century Christians who could readily prove their anointment? By what measure do they dare to compare themselves to Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Malachi?
I think you overstep the bounds of good sense too easily. I am sure I know where you learned to do so.
The word infallible is not used in the NWT. If any of the GB's words are included in the "new scrolls", then those that are allowed to live then will know, if it matters. The measure is God's Word. We all offend others, even Jehovah, many times in word, thought, and deed. May we each forgive one another and repent, so that we in turn may be shown undeserved kindness in the hour of test and the hour of need. We learn wherever we are. May we select the good always, so that ours may be a good portion from Jehovah himself, the giver of all good gifts and perfect presents.

to tijkmo:
Words, phrases, sentences, etc. can & do mean different things to different people, whether in the same home or in different cultures from each other. So, I'm glad to get your updated words. It facilitates in the clarifying of the thoughts involved.
elders today have in many cases acted in this way...deciding that an individual isnt worthy of being 'saved/snatched' merely because they have not behaved in a particular way as set out by the wts as producing works that befit repentance.
Whether or not elders acted according to their assignment(s) is not for me to judge. Jehovah hasn't given me that role.
i dont know how sorry david was...i know he wasnt as sorry as me.
I'm not qualified to say one way or the other. I know that Jehovah's surveillance system works as it should.
and yet the elders took delight in treating me like scum...
The Scripture at Matthew 24:13 remains true, as do 1 Peter 4:12-19.
i await with interest to see how jehovah will deal with them. in the meantime i dont want anything to do with them, jah or his organization. and he knows why.
It's good to look forward to Jehovah's will being done on earth as it is in Heaven. Whether we want something or not is one thing; whether we get what we want is something else. Jehovah knows what He wants to, when He cares to know it.
Actually, we're here on this thread to discuss "WHy is King David Always held up as a great guy?", not our own personal cases. If anyone wants to discuss themselves instead, it's better to give someone a PM.

They direct people to Jehovah's Word, and expect people to keep their word as Yes/No, within Jehovah's principles. I think it works best that way, even if I've had to take a time out once in a while.

Since Jehovah delegated to Jesus and allowed/authorized the writing of Matthew 24:45-51, and Jesus has allowed the GB to oversee things (even though the FDS are mentioned, not the GB), that's up to Jesus and Jehovah how that gets sorted. Jehovah still remains true, even if all men are proved liars.
I'd love to see you prove this without going in a circle. That is, if you aren't too tired from waving your pom-poms all day long. to SirNose586: It's all in Jehovah's Word, which has the final say, after all. If King David could praise Jehovah throughout his life, then I can too.
